One printer, two methods
Print the shirt, or print the transfer.
The X2 is a direct-to-garment printer that can also print DTF transfer film. You choose the method job by job in the RIP software, so the cotton order in the morning and the polyester order after lunch go through the same machine.
- Cotton goes direct.Water-based pigment ink prints straight onto pretreated cotton and high-cotton garments, with a soft hand-feel when the garment is properly pretreated and cured.
- Polyester and blends go by transfer.Print DTF film for polyester, blends, specialty placements and areas that are hard to print directly, then press it on.
- The switch happens in the software.Moving between DTG and DTF is a workflow change in the RIP, so transfer work comes without a second printer to buy.
- More than apparel.The X2 also prints on wood and canvas.

The X2 covers two kinds of order from one printer. These pieces stay with you, so plan them before delivery.
A heat press.Both routes need one, for curing DTG prints and for pressing DTF transfers. Neither package includes a press.
Pretreatment and a place to apply it.DTG needs pretreatment solution and application equipment, used away from the printer, ideally in a separate room.
DTF film, powder and a curing oven.Needed only when you run transfers.
A controlled room.Keep it between 59 and 90 F and 45 to 80% humidity, non-condensing. Humidity control is strongly recommended.
Floor space.The printer measures 52.2 x 33.9 in, stands 18.9 in high and weighs about 242.5 lb.
A Windows 10 or 11 computer and a 100/120V outlet.The printer draws 70 W and connects over WiFi, Ethernet or a USB drive.

Does the X2 really do both DTG and DTF?
Yes. It prints direct to garment, and you switch a job to DTF transfer film in the RIP software. DTF work needs its own film, powder and curing oven.
What can I print directly?
100% cotton, high-cotton blends, 100% light polyester and up to 50/50 dark polyester, plus wood and canvas.
When should I print a transfer instead?
When the order is polyester, a blend, a specialty placement or an area that is hard to print directly.
What do I need that isn't in the box?
A heat press for everything; pretreatment solution and application equipment for DTG; DTF film, powder and a curing oven for DTF. The Printer Only package also leaves out the RIP software, ink, platen and kits.
