The whole F2270, platen out
Most shops buy one machine for garment printing and a second for everything else, then pay for both twice: once at purchase, and again in floor space. The F2270 runs both jobs on one printer, one ink system and one footprint. You pick garment or film per job in Epson Garment Creator 2, and the hardware never changes.
A garment-only printer and a film-only printer each cover part of the catalog. The F2270 covers both, so the job you would have sent out, or turned down, stays on your own floor.
Both methods finish on a heat press, which is not included. Film also needs film, adhesive powder and a way to cure it. The rest of the line is listed further down this page, and an item that will not sit flat under a press needs a press that can reach it. Ask before you promise one.
Garment printing takes the cotton work. Film takes the polyester, the other materials and the shapes a platen cannot hold. One machine quotes all of it.
Print straight onto the tees that move most, with no transfer step. Ink runs 100% cotton to 50/50 blends.
Quote black tees instead of passing them on. A dedicated White channel plus pre-treatment on cotton.
Take on the polyester shirt work you turn down today. Film transfers press onto polyester at 284 F.
Say yes to the item a platen cannot hold. Transfers press onto materials and uniquely shaped products.
Garment printing goes onto the shirt. Film printing goes onto a sheet you press later. Both finish on a heat press, which is required and sold separately, and film needs two press passes rather than one.
Pre-treat the garment before it goes on the platen. Cotton and polyester take different formulas.
Nobody sets head height by hand between garments. The printer measures thickness and adjusts itself.
The print is not finished until heat sets it. A heat press is required and does not come in the box.
Film work has its own setup, and skipping it puts the printhead at risk. A platen larger than the film, grip pad off, White ink mode.
Queue transfers ahead of the press so printing and pressing stop competing. Film is a mode in Garment Creator 2.
Skip the cure and the powder does not bond, so this stage is not optional. 338 F for 150 seconds in an oven.
This is the stage the customer sees, so hold the values. 338 F for 25 seconds on cotton, 284 F on polyester.
The job is not done at the transfer. A second five second press pass fixes the ink into the media.
| Stage | Media | Temperature | Time | Pressure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cure the powder, conveyor oven | Film | 338 F (170 C) | 150 seconds | n/a |
| Transfer to the garment | Cotton | 338 F (170 C) | 25 seconds | 4.2 N/cm2 |
| Transfer to the garment | Polyester | 284 F (140 C) | 25 seconds | 4.2 N/cm2 |
| Fix the ink | Cotton | 338 F (170 C) | 5 seconds | 4.2 N/cm2 |
| Fix the ink | Polyester | 284 F (140 C) | 5 seconds | 4.2 N/cm2 |
Values are a starting point. Film, powder, press and ink coverage all move them, so dial in a test sheet before a production run. An oven cures the powder; it cannot do either press stage.
Watch both modes run on the F2270.
A printer on its own does not finish a shirt. Here is the rest of the line, so you can cost the whole job before you sign for the machine rather than after.
Transfer film
Film is what carries the print, so it belongs in every job cost.
See F2270 transfer film
Adhesive powder
Powder is the glue, and it needs heat to set. Cure it at 338 F for 150 seconds before you press.
See the Seismo S20 DTF Powder Station
Heat press
Nothing finishes without one, on either path. An oven cannot transfer the film and cannot fix ink.

Pre-treatment
Garment prints need it to hold, film prints must not get it. Two formulas, one for each fabric type.
See Epson DTG UltraChrome Pretreatment Liquid
Platens and grip pads
Bigger prints need the large platen, and film work needs the grip pad off the platen completely.
See F2270 platens
Ink, maintenance and coverage
Six ink packs come in the box, and the reorder keeps the line moving. Plans extend coverage to 5 years.
See F2270 ink and suppliesThe printer is built for Epson genuine packs and ink, not third-party ink. A Floor Stand Table for Epson F2000/F2100/F2270/F1070 is available separately if the machine is not going onto a bench.
The medium hanger platen and a medium grip pad come in the box. The 16 by 20 in area needs the large hanger platen, sold separately.
Plan the delivery before the install: the carton is 63 by 48 by 33.5 in at 328 lb, so measure the doorway and the path to the bench. Next business day service depends on a request by 1 p.m. Pacific on a weekday, and geographic limits apply. A heat press is required for both methods and is not included.

Open new doors for your printing business with the versatile SureColor® F2270. Purpose-built for both direct-to-garment (DTG) and DTFilm printing, this hybrid printer combines outstanding image quality, easy operation and great value.
With DTFilm printing capability, go beyond traditional garment printing and transfer to a wider variety of materials, including uniquely shaped items. Featuring a PrecisionCore® MicroTFP printhead and next-generation UltraChrome® DG2 Ink, the F2270 delivers vibrant colors and incredible detail at impressive speeds.
What’s more, the printer’s cartridge-free bulk ink pack system helps reduce ink replacement frequency. Featuring automatic garment thickness adjustment, robust Epson® Garment Creator 2 software, easy user maintenance features to help reduce downtime, and an intuitive design with a large 4.3" touchscreen interface and quick-load platen, the innovative F2270 brings you a new level of productivity and efficiency to meet customer demand head-on.
A printer you cannot keep running is a stalled production line, not an asset. The F2270 carries on-site service in its first year, and coverage can run to five years before you ever need it.
The box holds the printer, a medium hanger platen and medium grip pad, six 800 mL UltraChrome DG2 ink packs, a maintenance liquid pack and maintenance kit, the ink waste bottle with tubing and holder, the power cord and the guide kit. You still buy a heat press, which both methods need, plus pre-treatment for garment work and film, powder and a way to cure it for film work. The large platen is what takes you from 14 by 16 in to 16 by 20 in. Ask a specialist to quote the whole line with the machine, not just the printer.
Garment printing goes straight onto cotton and blends, and the ink is optimized for 100% cotton through 50/50 polyester. Film covers what garment printing cannot reach: polyester, other materials, uniquely shaped products, and any job you would rather print now and press later. You pick between them in Garment Creator 2, per job, with no hardware change.
More than a mode change, which is why the workflow above spells it out. The grip pad comes off, the platen has to be larger than the film, the sleeve and medium grooved platens cannot be used, and White ink mode is mandatory or the powder will not stick. After printing, the powder cures at 338 F for 150 seconds, the transfer presses for 25 seconds, then a second five second pass fixes the ink. An oven cures powder but cannot do either press stage.
Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. Wi-Fi is not listed, so plan for a cable. It runs Garment Creator 2 on Windows 8.1 64-bit or later and macOS 10.12 or later, works with leading third-party RIPs, prints from a USB memory device, and reports to Epson Cloud Solution PORT if you monitor a fleet.
Yes. Multiple financing options, including Affirm and Synchrony. Each lender sets its own terms at application, and the finance page carries every program. Ask a specialist to put the printer, the press and the consumables into one conversation before you choose.
The F2270 carries a 1 year limited warranty with on-site repair, usually the next business day, rather than a mail-in queue. Next business day depends on a service request by 1 p.m. Pacific on a weekday, and geographic limits apply. Epson Preferred Plus plans extend coverage to a total of five years, and AAPS sells the 1, 2 and 4 year plans alongside the machine.
